Buffy's mind was still and quiet, she knew this was right. There was no need to think about it, she could feel it all within her soul. Here, in Giles' arms was where she was meant to be. She smiled contently, as she accepted the warmth his body gave hers. Giles sighed deeply. Buffy's smile became even wider, she knew the reason she was sighing, and answered with a sigh of her own.
"It's just so right isn't it, Giles? Why did it take us so long to see?" Buffy questioned him, not really expecting an answer. "It's right now," Giles paused to try and articulate his thoughts, "but 3 years ago... It wouldn't have been. Now, it is." he finished by kissing her on the top of her head. "I guess so. It's like I've always known.. In the end it was always going to be you. I gave Angel my heart, Riley my time.. But in the end I knew somehow it was you. You've always had my soul."Buffy felt so comfortable telling Giles things she would never have dreamed of telling the men who had come before him. "I know dearest. From the moment I set eyes on you I knew I loved you. I dreamed that one day I would hold you in my arms.. kiss you.." he paused for a moment to do just that. "This is beautiful," he said as he indicated the sunrise, "but it will never match you. Seeing you, now, you look so happy, so peaceful and so serene. It makes my heart sing to know I have a part in that." Buffy turned to kiss her watcher again, telling him with her kisses what was in her heart. "I'm not as good as you with words, Giles. I can show you but I don't have the words to express what you mean to me... What you have always meant to me."
The smiled at each other in the way only two people deeply in love can and turned to walk down towards the small cafe they had parked the car by. Giles pulled Buffy to his side, wrapped his arm around her shoulder, while she wrapped hers around his waist. They walked quietly for a moment, immersed in their own thoughts. They both stopped at the same time, one of them looked up and one of them looked down. Their lips met in the sweetest kiss yet, before they broke apart and walked on.
"Shall we then?" Giles asked tilting his head towards the cafe which was opening as he spoke.
Buffy smiled up at her man. 'Oh my god.. I have a man' and nodded.
"Let's." They walked into the cafe, arm in arm, and sat down to order. Buffy kept hold of one of Giles' hands at all times, now she had him she was never letting go. They sat staring into each others eyes with a goofy smile across both their faces. "Giles, you know your age.. " Buffy began
"doesn't matter, never has and never will." he finished for her with a smile. She squeezed his hand tighter, and smiled at him, before pulling him to meet her in the middle of the table for a gentle kiss. "And in public Mr Giles!" Buffy giggled. She'd known he would understand, she didn't want him to have any qualms about their relationship, although she knew he didn't, because everything just felt too *right*. Perfect even. Giles just smiled at her, the woman who was his life, his breath, his everything. "I love you Buffy, so very much. I'd never be ashamed of it." He saw the tears well in his love's eyes, and reached over to brush them away. "I love you too Giles,so much."
The waitress who placed their breakfast in front of them was smiling. She'd been watching the only two customers since they had walked through the door. "Excuse me for saying so," she commented as she put the food down, "but you two obviously belong together. I've never seen two people so in sync, so in love." Buffy and Giles smiled at the woman. "Thankyou." they replied in unison. The waitress nodded and went back to her post behind the counter, sighing quietly. 'Now, If I could just find someone like that.'
"That was nice." Buffy commented to Giles. "I just hope that everyone else will be so accepting of us." Giles said as he squeezed Buffy's hand. Neither had been willing to let go of the contact, so they both ate with one hand. Smiling at each other the whole time, their soul's rejoicing at finally being rejoined. Suddenly Buffy tilted her head and looked at Giles with a quizzical expression on her face. "Giles, You're my twin soul. I know that here," she said placing her hand over her heart, "but up here," she said tapping her head, "I have no idea what that is. So knowledge guy.. What is it?" Giles smiled at her, realising just how deep their bond went, he'd suspected it from the moment he'd kissed her and felt that jolt. "Let's go back to my place, after breakfast and I'll explain it all, okay love?" "Hmm it's okay..On one condition.." Buffy said with a cheeky grin on her face. "What's that, my love?" Giles asked. "You kiss me again.. right now." Buffy giggled as Giles leant over the table again to kiss her not once, but twice. Both breath taking, heart stopping kisses. The finished their breakfast in silence and pointed the car towards Giles' apartment.
The sun continued to rise behind them.
